Bush signed a new bill...
This is driving me crazy!
Bush, that adorable man we all know and love, has signed a new bill..

Basically, now I'm afraid to get the PKU test done even though I felt really really good about it. I don't want the ##### government piece of craps taking my kid's blood against my will, storing it against my will, and then playing with it, AGAINST MY WILL! *sigh* someone tell me this is a hoax
I can't cheer enough for what Ron Paul says in this article, omg.. He knows what the hell is wrong with this stupid freaking bill. I wouldn't mind this "program" going on, IF THEY HAD INDIVIDUALS PERMISSION, but since when does the government really want us to have our own say? I seriously want to freaking scream and kill someone.
For those of you who still have yet to have your babies, what are you going to decide about the PKU test? It now seems, if you've done it, your child's blood is at their leisure to mess with, if you are going to do it, you don't have a choice what happens to it, and if you DON'T do it, obviously then the drawbacks to not having the PKU done are still at large.
I don't even know what to think.

I'd also like to provide a pro article on this subject..

Well, that sounds nice and dandy, don't it? If only it were our own choice what happens, if only we as Americans had the right to say NO. It sounds like all this article does is talk up the screening itself, not so much the bill. And they fail to mention that the blood ""donor"" doesn't have any kind of choice on the matter, not about whether or not their blood is taken or what is done with it after that

Re: Bush signed a new bill...
You thought it was necessary when I told you what it was.. I think it's pretty scary to go without it, I don't want to take that risk. Now I just don't know what to do, and this bill pisses me the hell off!
Re: Bush signed a new bill...
No i thought it was unnecessary.
isnt that the test for autism? yeah I dont want to prick my kid over that. If my kid is..i'll love it anyway.

Re: Bush signed a new bill...
The PKU tests for a ton of different things, it talks about it in the 2nd article, if you read it. If you don't catch onto something your baby has in time then you pretty much can't help them.

Don't copy paste things, it can get you (or me) in trouble.. edit and replace it with the links instead.
And read the 2nd article!!

Re: Bush signed a new bill...
what second article? oh i see it now
well...that sort of put me back on board..
PKU testing sounds more important now.
I dont quite understand what Bush is doing though? I've never been good at comprehending news articles.

Re: Bush signed a new bill...
Basically what's going on is the government is taking the DNA that is obtained through PKU testing, withOUT the consent of the parent or child, and storing it in their own database. They are claiming it's for "the greater good". What EXACTLY that greater good is supposed to be, I am not really sure, that's where they lose me. Apparently they think if there's a bad criminal someday, having everyone's DNA on file would help solve crimes faster.. That is the most absurd piece of crap I've heard since the Patriot Act! But the fact of the matter is, we've lost our civil rights and the government has now found another way to violate the constitution. We don't get to CHOOSE if we want to participate in their genetic playtime, they just TAKE it, and they're using the PKU testing as the way to do it.
You know Alyssa, this makes me wish I was still in CWP so I could really complain about this haha

*sigh* yeah, I did get the testing done. But I'm glad I did, she is one healthy baby girl! The pedi said if I don't get a phone call then I can take that as an all clear! I'm probably going to suffer some mild inner conflict about this if something more is to happen with this crappy law some day but.. I dunno I just had to do it. I would have blamed myself if something turned up when she got older that we couldn't treat anymore!
